ADULT HOSPITALIST OPPORTUNITIES

Maine Medical Partners Hospital Medicine (MMP-HM) is seeking BC/BE Internal Medicine physicians for full-time, hospitalist opportunities within the non-profit MaineHealth system. We have availability for general hospitalist work and in particular welcome candidates with a specific interest in medical education, perioperative medicine, oncology, or rural medicine. We are also seeking interested nocturnist physicians and maintain competitive salary and scheduling for physicians who commit to regular nighttime coverage.

The candidate will be joining MMP-HM, an organization within the broader practice group of Maine Medical Partners and Maine Medical Center. MMP-HM now includes more than 55 hospitalists engaged on the frontlines of clinical care, quality improvement, and medical education. The group includes leaders from across the organization, and supports the Internal Medicine Hospitalist Track within the IM Residency. Physicians also work closely with advanced practiced professionals (NP/PA) in many aspects of care, and will have ready access to point of care ultrasound (POCUS) as part of their daily care.

Maine Medical Center (MMC) is an academic medical center with 637 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary care and teaching hospital with a full complement of residencies and fellowships. MMC is also an integral part of Tufts University Medical School, helping to support the Tufts Maine Track program with more than 40 medical students per year participating in this program. As such, candidates will have the expectation of an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine and access to faculty development provided through the Tufts programs. There are also significant teaching and learning opportunities with internal medicine, medicine-pediatrics and family medicine residents, fellows and the medical students throughout the services centered at Maine Medical Center.

Situated on the Maine coast, Portland offers the best of urban living combined with small-town friendliness. The area provides four season recreational opportunities, such as skiing, hiking, boating, sailing, and miles of beautiful beaches. Just two hours north of Boston, this is an exceptionally diverse and vibrant community.

These positions also provide interested candidates with the unique opportunity of spending a portion or the majority of their clinical time at Stephens Memorial Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital recognized by the Leapfrog Group in 2020 as one of the top rural hospitals in the nation.

Stephens Memorial is also the first hospital to support a rural residency track in Internal Medicine and candidates will have the chance to work with these residents as well as a steady supply of rotating medical students from Tufts. Stephens Memorial Hospital, a member of MaineHealth, is located an hour from Portland and just 25 miles from nearby ski resorts offering spectacular skiing in the winter and hiking/biking during the summer. The White Mountains National Forest is just west of the Oxford Hills, and a multitude of local lakes rivers and nearby coastline offering splendid water-sporting activities as well.

Maine Medical Partners is committed to creating an equitable, inclusive environment that is welcoming to diverse faculty.
