NOCTURNIST HOSPITALIST OPPORTUNITIES

Maine Medical Partners Hospital Medicine (MMP-HM) is seeking physicians to join a group of established nocturnists as part of its adult hospital medicine practice. Flexible scheduling and competitive salary and benefits offered. Candidates must be BC/BE in Internal Medicine, and ideal applicants will have a specific interest in medical education, quality improvement, or perioperative medicine.

The candidate will be joining MMP-HM, a practice within the broader physician group of Maine Medical Partners and Maine Medical Center. MMP-HM now includes more than 50 hospitalists engaged on the frontlines of clinical care, quality improvement, research and medical education. The group includes leaders from across the organization, and supports the Internal Medicine Hospitalist Track within the IM Residency. The group also works closely with advanced practiced professionals (NP/PA) in many aspects of care including night time work. Physicians will also have ready access to point of care ultrasound (POCUS) as part of their work.

Maine Medical Center (MMC) is an academic medical center with 637 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary care and teaching hospital and maintains a full complement of residencies and fellowships. MMC is also an integral part of Tufts University Medical School, helping to support the Tufts Maine Track program with more than 40 medical students per year participating in this program. As such, candidates will have the expectation of an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine and access to faculty development provided through the Tufts programs. There are also significant teaching opportunities with internal medicine, medicine-pediatrics and family medicine residents, fellows and the medical students throughout the services centered at Maine Medical Center.

The position also provides interested candidates with the opportunity of spending a portion or the majority of their clinical time at Stephens Memorial Hospital (SMH), a 25-bed critical access member hospital of MaineHealth. SMH has been recognized by the Leapfrog Group in 2020 as one of the top rural hospitals in the nation. SMH also supports a rural residency track in Internal Medicine affording the chance to work with residents as well as medical students from Tufts in the rural practice setting.
