Responsibilities
Administer inpatient medical care to adult patients admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital. Evaluate patients for admission to the hospitalist service. Respond to pages from nursing, pharmacy, and other care team members regarding patients on the hospitalist service. Provide leadership to staff in the provision of appropriate medical care. Consult with specialists regarding patients. Triage outside hospital patient transfer requests. Order tests, medications, and treatments for patients. Document and code treatments in patient medical records and submit documentation of procedures for billing purposes. Engage in the education of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine medical students and Internal Medicine residents through teaching and related activities. Provide curriculum-related training and learning experiences through conducting clinical talks and discussions and facilitating discussions with residents and medical students on recent scientific publications relevant to the Internal Medicine field. Attend and participate in grand rounds. Provide formal written evaluations for medical students and residents. Engage in scholarly activities. Study and implement population health initiatives for Johns Hopkins Medicine. Research and implement programs related to alternative sites of care and value-based contracts. Work in collaboration with the Director of the Hospitalist Program and leaders of the Department of Medicine and Division of Hospital Medicine to advance the clinical and operational missions of Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Hospitalist Program, including the sustained delivery of high quality patient care and attraction and retention of highly talented hospitalists. May be asked to work overtime, on-call, evening, night, weekend, holiday and other shifts as needed. Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
Medical degree or foreign equivalent. Completion of residency program in Internal Medicine. Possession of, or eligibility for, Maryland medical license. Must possess board certification in Internal Medicine, or be certified by residency director as eligible to sit for board examinations.
